McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) non-tenure-clinical track, Assistant Professor level in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine.


Position Key Accountabilities:
Responsibilities will include the care of consultative supportive medicine patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings at Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center, Kindred Hospital and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital. Education responsibilities will include the supervision of students, residents and fellows in both clinic and hospital settings. Participation in the Division’s intramural practice and pursuit of scholarly activities is strongly encouraged. The physician will provide weekend consult service coverage at Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center in rotation with the other providers.

The selected candidate for the position is required to have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License prior to employment.

The applicant must have a medical degree recognized by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and member Boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), or equivalent, and must have successfully completed fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at an accredited institution.

Board certification is required. Therefore, the applicant will need to be board certification in primary discipline (such as internal medicine) and board eligible in palliative medicine with an intention to take the boards in their first year of employment.
