| Job Title: Associate Dean, Academics Job ID: 25219 Full/Part Time: Full - Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Job Code: 3306/ Range 1 Department: CPGE Central Administration -------------------- About the Position Reporting to the Dean of the College of Professional and Global Education (CPGE), the Associate Dean, Academics is charged with oversight of operations related to instruction and academic programs in the college's departments and schools. The position has overall responsibilities in - Faculty Success: attracts and retains diverse faculty; supports faculty development and teaching excellence; provides administrative oversight on the recruitment, appointment, and evaluation of lecturers; oversees faculty evaluation, retention, and promotion process; promotes and supports research, scholarly, and creative activity (RSCA)
- Student Success: collaborates with university units, companies (local, regional, and international), and government agencies to engage in activities and operations related to the success of students including recruitment, advising, retention, graduation, and employment; coordinates with university units (e.g., transition and retention services, student conduct, success centers, etc.) on student success initiatives
- Academic and Curricular Excellence: supports curriculum and program design, development, and implementation to meet the changing needs of students and workforce; oversees administrative tasks related to curriculum; manages program assessment and accreditation
The Associate Dean is expected to engage in strategic planning and implementation of initiatives related to the mission and vision of the college and the university, including projects with regional, national, and international organizations. Moreover, he/she helps ensure compliance with policies and procedures, researches issues, analyzes institutional data, prepares reports, recommends policy or procedural changes, and handles confidential problems that arise in the college. The Associate Dean helps secure and administer financial, human and physical resources, particularly those for instruction, research, and student success. Finally, the Associate Dean works in partnership with the Dean, Associate Dean for Professional and Global Education, and the college leadership team to ensure a positive, collaborative, productive, and forward-thinking culture in the college. This is a position in the CSU - Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position will require adherence to University compliance training such as: Conflict of Interest and Ethics, AB 1825 Sexual Harassment Prevention, Information Security, and Injury and Illness Prevention Program.
