Job Description Summary: The Swim Lesson Instructor will provide safe, quality swim instruction for the Webster University Campus as well as for children enrolled in the Swim Lesson Program. A Swim Lesson Instructor serves as a representative of the UC staff to guests, patrons, members and the University community. The Swim Lesson Instructor must exercise strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment in dealing with the public and the safety of their students.
Minimum Qualifications At least one year of experience as a swim lesson instructor. Display superior customer service abilities in addition to strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrate an ability to initiate various tasks and a willingness to accept responsibility. Display an enthusiastic and positive attitude about the University Center and the campus. Maintain a professional, neat appearance and a positive demeanor. Uphold and abide by all University, federal, state, and local regulations and policies.
Preferred Qualifications Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification preferred
Essential Duties Provides clear and accurate instruction to participants in assigned swim lessons. Maintains all records and report cards pertaining to their classes. Responds accurately and in a timely manner to all email and phone correspondence linked to the Swim Lesson Program. Maintains skills and knowledge appropriate for quality instruction of swim lessons. Continues to gain additional skills and knowledge to improve their teaching ability. Makes observations and suggestions to Swim Lesson Student Supervisor aimed at improving operations and programs. Conveys timely and accurate information regarding staff scheduling. Works cooperatively with lifeguards to produce the safest possible swim lesson. Attends 100% of swim lessons assigned. Assumes responsibility for policies governing the Swim Lesson Program. Assumes responsibility for emergency procedures and reacts appropriately in times of emergency. Communicates appropriately with children, students, parents and supervisors about student progress and program needs. Attends in-service/training sessions for Instructors. Accurately reports time worked for payroll processing Completes additional responsibilities deemed necessary for quality, productive swim lessons.
