Extended Day Program Teacher-UCDS Infant/Toddler Program Education Program
University Child Development School (UCDS)
The University Child Development School Infant/Toddler Education Program, an innovative Reggio inspired program, is seeking an Extended Day Program (EDP) teacher to join our collaborative teaching team as a part-time, hourly employee.
Our school serves children ranging in age from six weeks to three years old at the start of the school year. We believe, infants and toddlers tap their natural curiosity and begin to learn through play and investigations. Our program draws from current research that supports the idea that young children need meaningful experiences and relationships to learn and grow. The program is student-centered and designed to celebrate each child as unique. Teachers use observations about children to design curriculum, giving students the assurance to explore, discover, connect and create on their own and in collaboration with others.
Designed to be flexible, our curriculum puts children at the center. Learning emerges from children's theories and ideas as they experiment, investigate, question and explore. During a typical afternoon an EDP teacher will facilitate the transition from the school day into EDP, implement projects and experiences for children, connect with parents with information on the school day, help children prepare to go home, and reset spaces for the morning.
During planning meetings with the EDP team, you will be responsible for planning EDP curriculum and implementing projects for both our infant and toddler/preschool classrooms. Successful candidates are collaborative, flexible and passionate, and have experience working with young children. Main responsibilities include collaborating with other EDP teachers to create curriculum and projects based on the interests and developmental needs of students, and facilitating the day-to-day operations of the EDP program.
Typical hours: Monday-Friday, 2pm-6pm, with the possibility of full-day substitute teaching as needed. We also provide the option of attending between 1-3 full-day professional development days throughout the year, and opportunities for individualized professional development provided within typical work hours. This position offers opportunities for growth in to a full-time salaried teaching position.
