Office of the Provost/Center for Analytics and Data Science:   Assistant Director:  The Center for Analytics and Data Science (CADS) is a university-wide initiative, providing an innovative environment where students, faculty and external partners can embrace the application of analytics and data science; engage in research that transforms the practice of analytics and data science; receive support in developing their analytical skills; and find opportunities to elevate their understanding through research, coursework, collaboration and experiential learning.

The Assistant Director of CADS will have a range of responsibilities related to the advancement and growth of the Center including guiding students through experiential projects, hosting events, fostering relationships with external partners, and supporting faculty in developing a collaborative environment to foster research and pedagogy.

Foster Corporate Relations

1. Recruit new corporate sponsors – ability to speak fluently about the CADS mission of developing data fluency and quantitative skills in students through enriching educational experiences
2. Foster partner relationships with the goal of retaining corporate sponsors for multiple years – actively seek out and listen to feedback from sponsors, which will lead to development of new analytics/data science programs through CADS

Manage Programs/Events

1. Develop and facilitate new programmatic activities in partnership with the CADS Director – includes but not limited to the creation of program/workshop content focused on technical (coding, analytic, data science) skills development for students
2. Oversee and facilitate cross-departmental learning initiatives – develop series of workshops or brown bag lunch series focused on bringing faculty across campus together to share research related to analytics and data science (both applied and discovery research)
3. Partner with CADS Director on development of a Corporate Analytics Training Program – identify faculty partners, develop course catalogue, analyze “right to win” in marketplace

Project Management

1. Advise project interns – provide analytical support, advice, and guidance to students as they execute projects provided by our corporate sponsors; ensure CADS delivers a quality deliverable/product/solution to our clients
2. Review and prioritize project opportunities – able to identify during a conversation with a client whether we have the analytic/data science skillset and expertise across campus to accomplish project goals
3. Identify appropriate faculty and students to staff client projects

Provide Center Administration

1. Coordinate and oversee Center technology needs – provide access of students and faculty to CADS server, monitor usage and space of server to ensure we archive/delete old projects
2. Hire and oversee student marketing interns – ensure marketing strategies promote the CADS mission; development of a CADS social media strategy

Require:  Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field related to analytics or data science or a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of work experience related to analytics or data science; outstanding written and oral communication skills; ability to adapt within an entrepreneurial start-up environment; high level of initiative and willingness to work independently; willingness to work outside of normal business hours if required; occasional travel may be required.   Position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Desire:  Experience building data science and analytic training curriculum and working with open source programming languages.  Work experience in developing and promoting new programs.  Experience in building and fostering corporate relationships.
