The Assistant Director/Senior Manager of Corporate and Strategic Alliances will develop, maintain, and expand corporate collaborations and strategic alliances with a primary focus on technologies spanning the Physical Sciences with emphasis on computer science, cyber intelligence, & electrical engineering. This position will work closely with private, government-industry, professional services and other relevant industry organizations to form key relationships, increase awareness and leverage credibility of USC academic programs as a way to support the organizational mission to expand knowledge with societal impact. The successful candidate will build strong internal relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff in each college and research center to appropriately match the interests and needs of external partners with the strengths of the USC research community. This individual will work to develop, sustain and maximize new and existing relationships, and position USC as a collaborative partner of choice.
During the launch phase, the individual will be responsible for researching and understanding the partners culture and capabilities, communicating these within the alliance team, along with the interests of key stakeholders (both internal and external). The position requires an ability to identify and articulate the value propositions for multiple collaborators and facilitate the inclusion of that information in the negotiation and development of the contracts and agreements that formalize the partnerships. This individual will create and foster a collaborative work environment between the parties (site visits, team building, team meetings, etc.) and will own the alliance kickoff process for new relationships, briefing the team on key terms and obligations from the contract and ensuring they all know and understand their roles and responsibilities in the alliance. The individual will also ensure effectiveness of the governance model, identifying change and making adjustments and/or recommendations to senior management to enhance the alliance to the benefit of both partners as necessary. The individual will be responsible for the full feedback analysis of the alliance over the years, including main achievements, pros and cons, and lessons learned to evolve best practices.

Prepares briefings and presents information to individuals and groups of varying sizes and levels of leadership (Must be comfortable and experienced presenting to c-suite level audiences).

Creates innovative ways to reach industry and aligns academic programs with organizational needs.
Works with USC across various functional teams to ensure smooth processes, collaboration and compliance.
Attends, presents, and/or exhibits at key industry conferences to represent USC and to showcase USC capabilities and academic offerings, leveraging marketing collateral and other resources.
Provides feedback and input from current and prospective partners in these markets. Performs other duties as assigned.
