The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is currently seeking a full time Assistant Professor to join the Organizational Systems and Adult Health department, participating in the clinical and didactic education of entry level and graduate students with a focus on health policy. The selected faculty member will deliver consistent, high quality course content to students, laying the foundation for their progression through the program and on into their careers as nurses.
UMSON enrolls more than 1900 students in its baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs. It is ranked 8th in funding for public nursing schools from the National Institutes of Health. UMSON is part of the University of Maryland, graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, and social work. Its interdisciplinary graduate school has more than 40 programs in the biosciences, law, and social work, and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Its location in the Baltimore, Washington DC, and Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, health care institutions, and life science industries.
Develop, organize, teach, and evaluate courses and precepted clinical experiences.
Advise and mentor students.
Participate in an active program of scholarship.
Contribute to faculty governance and the collaborative efforts of a professional team.
Education: Doctoral degree preferred (PhD or DNP). MS in nursing is required.
Experience: Prior teaching experience at an accredited academic institution preferred. Prior experience with healthcare policy preferred.
Additional Qualifications: Current license to practice nursing in Maryland is required.
