The University of Rhode Island, the State's flagship research institution, is seeking a collaborative, service oriented and experienced technology leader to serve as the University's Cloud Services Architect. Working closely with central and distributed IT leadership, the Cloud Services Architect will be an important part of the evolution of IT at the University, which is focused on delivering high performing applications and infrastructure solutions in a multi-cloud environment, with an eye on security and cost.
As a direct report to the Director of ITS Infrastructure Services, you will be responsible for leading the creation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of the University's initiatives in cloud computing and automation. You will evaluate technical solutions, enterprise applications, HPC and disaster recovery solutions with an emphasis on cloud. You will also implement cloud services monitoring, operational best practices and collaboratively deliver IT professional services including consulting, training, analytics and service management. Although expertise in all of the following areas are not required upon hire, you will become the subject matter expert to the University for end-to-end cloud infrastructure including AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), and, you will lead and manage projects to deliver high-availability and fault-tolerant enterprise and web scale infrastructure deployments.
