The Associate Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs provides educational and administrative leadership to Academic and Student Affairs faculty and staff to achieve a high standard of excellence and innovation in strategic retention management, inclusion and diversity, instructional and student support technologies, faculty and staff professional growth, leadership and support for the newly established "Student Success Team" (consisting of professional advising, career services, and financial aid) in student services. The Associate Vice President (AVP) will provide the vision and overall guidance for retention and accreditation efforts in an integrated academic and student services/student success setting. The Associate Vice President will report to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and serve as the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) for regional accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission.
The AVP will serve as an administrative representative on Lake Superior College committees and workgroups and will participate in various Minnesota State, community, state and national organizations and committees.
Master's degree in any field related to the College programming or to higher education leadership;
3 or more years of administrative experience at the level of Chair, Director, or Dean or higher;
3 or more years of higher education teaching experience or equivalent experience working with faculty and students;
Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the comprehensive community and technical college;
Experience with enrollment/retention and student success strategies;
Experience with HLC or other regional accreditation standards;
Administrative-level experience working in a unionized College or University environment.
Doctorate degree in a College-related field with an alignment to managing and leading in Higher Education;
Demonstrated success in designing and implementing effective retention strategies;
Knowledge of and experience with HLC peer review, regional and program-specific accreditation;
Experience supervising employees in a collective bargaining environment;
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and success in addressing the challenges and opportunities inherent in a diverse environment.
