The High School Program Director is a year round, full time position that will assume leadership of The School flagship summer program for high school students. In operation for four years, Summer Academy provides academically rigorous residential enrichment programming that reflects the depth and breadth of the New York Times. The Program Director is expected to maintain the highest standards of excellence in regards to the academic and residential student experience.
Drawing high school students from all 50 states and over 45 countries, this position will be responsible for leading a residential pre-college program that serves close to 2,000 students a summer at two locations.
The ideal candidate is an experienced education leader with a proven track record of successful tactical implementation of innovative education programs and the ability to maintain the success of the program. The Program Director will work in collaboration within The School and across shared services to plan the program and then manage the day-to-day operations while the program is in session. Thus, the candidate needs to be able to manage laterally across multiple teams, ensuring efficiency and quality throughout the program cycle.
Plan and execute the Summer Academy in New York City and Washington, DC in conjunction with other departments at the School and shared services at BrandEd. During Summer Academy, the Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Summer Academy, focusing on tactical improvements and overall implementation of the program.
Work closely with the leadership team at the School to execute the academic, operational and residential strategy and vision of the program while maintaining the highest levels of excellence in regards to the student experience
This position will serve as the leader of the Summer Academy program and provide leadership to the faculty, staff, students and parents of the Program while the program is in session.
This position will be responsible for the project management of a complex set of school operations in two locations through direct and lateral management of shared services.
This position will continue to build, strengthen and audit business systems, operations and processes for the program while maintaining the high standards already set by School leadership.
Lead and ensure compliance with all internal and external governance structures; manage complex reporting and communication around compliance
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of innovative educational programs with a track record of maintaining excellence in program execution and a focus on high student and parent satisfaction
Strong project management abilities in a shared services environment and ability to execute the existing vision and strategy of the program
Ability to ensure the highest standards of students and staff health, safety and well being in urban environments
Support and embrace Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness
Ability to establish rapport with a diverse set of stakeholders including conflict resolution and mediation, ability to work in dynamic educational environments
Instant creditability and leadership in the education field with the ability to garner trust and respect from diverse stakeholders
Knowledge of various types of software including proficiency in Microsoft Office, student information systems, and HR systems.
Education, Work Experience and/or Licensure
The Program Director shall have a minimum of a Masters Degree in a relevant field.
10+ years of professional experience in education and educational management
Experience working with diverse stakeholders across academics, student life and shared services
Experience working in innovative, dynamic educational settings
Ability to start by January 2020
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent command of the English Language
