Plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Optometry Services in accordance with organizational, federal, state and local standards that govern the facility to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Provides quality outpatient vision/optometry services on appointment and walk-in basis
Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, and eye diseases, such as glaucoma
Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids, and medications, as needed
Perform minor procedures to correct or treat visual or eye health issues
Evaluate patients for the presence of other diseases and conditions, such as diabetes or hypertension, and refer patients to other healthcare providers as needed
Provide pre and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery such as examining a patient's eyes the day after surgery.
Orders appropriate laboratory and x-ray studies.
Provides supervision, direction, and support of optometry technicians.
Provides patient education regarding disease processes and good health habits.
Assists in the implementation of the Center’s quality assurance program.
Prepares for Mutual Goal Setting sessions with supervisor and accomplishes goals set forth.
Participates in medical center and community education activities and continuing education programs.
Maintains current prescriptive authority license, OBNDD, and DEA number. Maintains a current knowledge of Optometry formulary and prescribes medications within the limits of the formulary.
Assists in community health screening and disease prevention activities.
Informs Chief Medical Officer of difficult cases, poor outcomes, or of involvement of other agencies in patient case.
Interacts effectively with patients, families, clinic team members, and others.
Maintains required productivity level as set by the Chief Executive Officer.
Participates regularly in public speaking with various programs and education events.
Completes delegated activities, projects, and committee functions with appropriate time span.

Licensed Doctor of Optometry required Two years of experience preferred Current BLS/CPR certification Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Ability to work with patients and staff professionally and tactfully Ability to work independently as well as with a professional team
