At the Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research (BMIR) we develop cutting-edge ways to acquire, represent, and process information about human health. In order to handle the ever-increasing amounts of data in healthcare and biomedical research, our faculty, students, and staff investigate and create novel computational, statistical, organizational, and decision-making methods. Our research advances the state of the art in semantic technology, biostatistics, and the modeling of biomedical systems to benefit clinical and translational research as well as patient care.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who has a deep understanding of data science research, and a passion for getting things done to be a Research Project/Program Manager.
This position will support our work in clinical informatics, public health informatics, and population health. We receive support from government, industry, and academics. Our focus is to generate evidence to improve care delivery and ultimately patient outcomes across a broad range of diseases. We have a multidisciplinary team, including faculty and students across the school of Medicine as well as engineering, computer science and education.
In this role, you will:
Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities of the program by identifying and executing tasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of the program.
Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program.
Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program.
Represent the program as the key contact and subject matter expert within program. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent the program to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning/promoting events and/or conferences.
May participate in development of budgets, monitor, and approve expenditures. May perform limited forecasting and provide recommendations that determine the budget.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task.
Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions.

In addition, preferred requirements include:
Master's degree in a related field with 3+ years' experience (e.g. MPH, or CS)
Ability to productively contribute to cross-functional teams.
Depth of knowledge in administrative support needed to deliver projects.
Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, HR, communications, risk, and procurement components.
Deep understanding of the research process and project cycle from initiation to closure.
Experience in working with staff or faculty in the academic setting.
Experience in working with research data and the ability to clean, format, and manage datasets.
Experience writing progress reports, manuscripts and creating figures/charts for publication.
Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
