Budget Title: Instructional Support Associate (SL-2)
Salary: $42,651 - 47,000
As part of Binghamton University Libraries, Reader Services is a department devoted to serving Binghamton's community of patrons. In addition to working out of Bartle Library, which currently includes the Newcomb Reading Room, Reader Services staff members serve patrons at the Science Library, the University Downtown Center Library, and the Libraries' remote storage facility, called the Annex.
The Reader Services Reserves Student Supervisor will directly oversee approximately 25 student employees who staff a circulation desk and circulate reserve materials. Primary duties will include:
Recruiting and Hiring: Assemble a dynamic, diverse workforce
Training: Develop engaging, thorough training for student employees
Supervising: Enforce the Libraries' policies and ensure consistent service
Evaluating: Establish measurable goals for student employees
In addition, the Reader Services Reserves Student Supervisor will:
Be responsible for Reserves-related processes, including, but not limited to processing reserves requests, communicating with instructors, and formulating policies and procedures
Provide excellent service at the Newcomb Reading Room and the Bartle circulation desks
Resolve problems related to patron issues, circulation of library materials, and Library equipment and maintain open communication with supervisor and Head of Reader Services
Follow all safety and security procedures, including opening and closing the Library and consulting with University Police
Engage in Libraries' planning and programming activities as appropriate and serve on committees
Proficiency in Excel and comfort with learning new applications
Ability to lift as much as 30 pounds during the course of the day
Primary work days are M-F, occasional weekend and evening hours may be required
Leadership and supervisory experience
Experience communicating in a professional setting
Customer service experience
