![]() Health Policy Analyst Supervisor (QLTY IMPV HC SUPV 2) Department Description The Center for Healthcare Policy and Research (CHPR) accomplishes its mission to facilitate research, promote education, and inform policy about health and healthcare through interdisciplinary and collaborative research and training. Our faculty members represent a broad spectrum of disciplines from UC Davis and other public and private organizations. Designated as an organized research unit by the University of California's Board of Regents in 1994, CHPR supports investigators pursuing original research and translating findings to support evidence-based policy making. Under the leadership of Joy Melnikow, M.D., M.P.H., CHPR supports innovative research and education in comparative effectiveness, health disparities, and cost and quality of care. CHPR's work informs health policy in local, state, federal, and international policy arenas as well as the UC Davis community. Job Summary Under general direction of the CHPR CAO/MSO serve as the Healthcare Policy Analyst supervisor. Lead a team of up to 10 research staff/analysts supporting one or more large/complex extramural funded projects. Oversee all aspects of one or more large, complex, multi-site projects with a healthcare policy, systematic review or healthcare comparative effectiveness research focus. Interact with federal, state and private funding agencies. Act as primary liaison for projects managed with funding agencies and internal departments. Provide supervision and guidance in the areas of project management, human resources for all assigned projects and direct reports. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to meet operational needs. QUALIFICATIONS Required: Supervisory and team building experience to recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, mentor and counsel employees and build a service-oriented, team environment. Technical healthcare policy, human resources, and leadership skills. Experience to understand, interpret, and apply laws, regulations and policies governing business and accounting activities, payroll and personnel processes, health and safety issues, confidentiality of records and information, and technology. Experience interpreting and implementing human resources policies, procedures and adhering to state and federal laws regarding human resources. Experience performing literature reviews and analyzing policies and issues in the fields of health care quality, health care outcomes, preventive medicine, and effectiveness of mandated health benefits. Experience with IRB processes and writing protocols, modifications and renewal applications for human subjects committee approval. Human subject certification. Experience using writing, editing and proofreading skills to prepare a variety of documents including summary of findings and analyses, preparing policy recommendations related to health care quality measurement and mandated health benefits, and presenting these recommendations and findings in formal and informal meetings with key stakeholders. Analytical and problem-solving skills to collect, analyze, and interpret multiple sources of data and to develop solutions. Preferred: Degree or equivalent course work in health policy, epidemiology, and public health. Skills to implement principles of performance management, multiculturalism and diversity. Coaching skills to enhance staff contributions to department mission. Interpersonal skills to develop professional connections to identify and implement solutions to complex problems, build relationships with colleagues at all levels, and advise and collaborate with others. Supervisory experience working in an academic institution. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Background Check This position is a critical position and subject to a background check.
