Assistant Professor – Tenure Track Emerging Media and Design Department of Art and Design Holland College of Arts and Media
Pioneering faculty to re-imagine art and design practices across a range of media including but not limited to: performance art, immersive and interactive media art, video arts, virtual and mixed reality art, gaming, sound, photography, digital arts, data + art, app development/design, web design, spatial, and/or experience design
Create an environment that fosters innovative, creative, and entrepreneurial thinking
Emphasize design, creativity and collaboration within the Department of Art and Design as well as other departments in the Holland College of Arts and Media and the university
Seek and manage a cross-disciplinary environment
Present advanced contemporary trends in all aspects of art and design
Teach courses at all levels of the undergraduate Art and Design curriculum
Foster student learning and implementation of tools, theories, and applications within art and design disciplines
Implement interdisciplinary approaches to art and design
Work with the University’s Catapult Creative House to develop strong backgrounds in arts entrepreneurship
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) by August 2020 (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally/accredited/government certified university.)
Professional experience in design industry and studio art
Commitment to teaching excellence in a collaborative and creative atmosphere
Knowledge of design and art practices and recent developments in technology
Accomplished art skills in traditional and progressive media
Skills in graphic design and/or emerging technologies (which could include studio art, digital animation, app development/design, web design, video editing, sound design, and video/sound editing and/or gaming, digital foundations)
Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
