The Executive Director of Student Aid and Scholarships develops and executes strategies, programs and services to achieve university goals and provides executive leadership to the areas of student financial aid and scholarships.
Create and implement a long-term plan that strategically allocates student aid to advance the university's goals, mission and vision. Lead a team to plan, develop and direct the goals, timetables, priorities, policies and procedures of Student Financial Aid (SFA), and the Scholarship Office. Oversee the administration of Title IV and VA programs, ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements, and provide oversight, direction and coordination for financial resources.
Provide oversight to the Director of Student Financial Aid and the Director of Scholarships, including, but not limited to: funds management, NCAA and Southland Conference athletic compliance collaboration and support, policy analysis/planning, risk management and university compliance, scholarship administration and processing operations.
Organize and participate in public events and fundraising activities locally and nationally to foster current relationships and recruit prospective scholarship donors.
Work collaboratively with other Enrollment Management departments to maximize operations and effectiveness.
Provide executive leadership for all Student Financial Aid and Scholarships operations and ensure delivery of efficient and effective services and process for all eligible students attending the university.
Work with university partners to create more customized programs for undeserved populations to increase yield, retention and graduation rates.
Provide leadership for enhancing technology and operations to guide efficient and effective student financial aid programs and processes.
Strengthen internal controls by working to develop and execute a comprehensive audit program for the evaluation of Student aid and university compliance and integration with central compliance functions
Utilize data and analytics to make data-informed decisions to ensure financial aid decisions support enrollment goals.
Connect with key stakeholders and national peers to establish close ties with Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and enhance relationships that can bring critical change to the university and its students; serve as a liaison with university leadership (e.g., Marketing and Communications, Institutional Advancement, IT, University College and Athletics.), colleges and departments, and represent TAMUCC with state and federal government on student debt issues, national committees, etc.
Lead the team in service excellence and student experience.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Enrollment Management or his designee.
Master's degree in business, education, or related field,
Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in financial aid or financial services operation within higher education to include five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Experience leading a complex organization through implementing new programs, processes and systems to accomplish goals.
Innovative thinker with a record of making an indelible impact in access and affordability.
Knowledge of current trends and best practices in financial aid and strategic enrollment planning for both domestic and international populations.
Proven quality assurance and understanding of state and federal regulations.
Excellent leadership, public relations and team-building skills.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
