Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is a seeking a Fitness Coordinator I for Student Affairs- Recreation. This position is under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness and is responsible for daily management of a comprehensive fitness program. This includes fitness centers and fitness wellness programming and services. The position serves the university community of the Rutgers, New Brunswick campus through the department of Recreational Services and the Division of Student Affairs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Develops and delivers an exciting and innovative fitness program.
Provides management of one large programming element (Group Fitness and Wellness classes).
Provides management of an efficient, clean and customer-oriented fitness center(s).
Assists with the preparation and tracking the facility and/or program specific portion of the annual Fitness and Wellness budget.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a Health and/or fitness related field including exercise science, health promotion and sport management.
Minimum of two years of management experience at a fitness facility.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
CPR, First Aid, AED certification within 30 days of official start date.
Competent in performing fitness assessments, group fitness instruction, personal training.
Must be able to network with professionals in the field, sales representatives and professional governing organizations.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
Preferred certifications include ACSM (certified exercise physiologist, inclusive fitness trainer and/or personal trainer, NASM personal trainer, NSCA strength and conditioning coach and/or USAW sports performance coach.
Group fitness instruction certification such as Yoga (200+hr), Spinning, ZUMBA or a Les Mills program.
This position requires familiarity with a variety of fitness and fitness assessment equipment.
The position requires competence with various programs including "when to work ", Excel, Outlook and Fusion, Additional software utilized are Expense Management, hourly payroll and Sciquest.
