The OHSU-PSU School of Public Health seeks applicants a full-time faculty position in biostatistics at the rank of Associate Professor. Candidates with a doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH or ScD) in biostatistics, statistics or a highly related specialty are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the statistical aspects of data science and/or experience developing data science curricula for population health. The successful candidate will join a group of 16 faculty engaged biostatistics education, and exciting health sciences research with collaborators throughout the institution and region. Candidates are expected to develop a research portfolio with a mixture of collaborative and independent research, as well as engage in teaching and service in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. Candidate may also participate in activities of the Biostatistics & Design Program, OHSUs core resource for biostatistics collaboration.
OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (FTE)
Collaborative research with biomedical and public health faculty including preparing grant applications, providing exemplary statistical/methodological guidance, and conducting data analysis on funded grants/contracts. (Note: The successful candidate may derive a portion of FTE from one or more OHSU departments, and/or work with biostatistics service core)
Independent health sciences and/or methodological research motivated by collaborations.
Teach 1-2 graduate level courses in the MS/MPH and Certificate Programs in Biostatistics. Possibly develop new course(s) to expand current offerings.
Participate in refinement of graduate program curricula in the School to incorporate more focus on population health data science
Advise and mentor students in the MS/MPH and Certificate Programs in Biostatistics and other programs in the School/institution.
Participate in shared governance of the School by serving on committees, attending faculty meetings and School-wide events
Participate in biostatistics faculty meetings, retreats and seminars.
PhD or equivalent degree in biostatistics, statistics or related discipline by the position start date
Strong publication record in peer reviewed journals
Interest in teaching graduate level courses in biostatistics
Candidates at the Associate Professor level would be expected to have an established track record of both collaborative and independent research
The anticipated start date for this position is July 2020, but an earlier date can be negotiated. Preference is to have position filled in time for the 2020-2021 academic year.
