WittKieffer has been retained by Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC) to recruit an outstanding physician executive with extensive medical group leadership experience to serve as Physician-in-Chief (PIC), Mary Washington Medical Group. This physician leader will be the senior executive for the growing physician enterprise. Currently, MWMG is comprised of 117 physicians with expectations of tripling in size over the next two years. MWMG covers a geographic area spanning from Ashland to North Strafford, Virginia. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia, MWHC is a dynamic and sophisticated not-for-profit, independent, regional system consisting of two hospitals, three emergency departments, and over 40 healthcare facilities and wellness services. The regional healthcare system includes a successful, growing accountable care organization and has a dedicated board and senior leadership team that is committed to advancing MWHC's mission of serving the community. As the dominant healthcare organization in the area, MWHC is financially solvent and has strong market share. Reporting to the MWHC Chief Medical Officer, the PIC will be responsible for operations and strategy for the rapidly growing group. She/he will be charged with developing a more defined infrastructure, a governance platform, and policies and procedures. The PIC will identify strategic growth opportunities organically, and through acquisition and joint venture partnerships. The PIC will develop a common culture and more consistent care delivery practices across the clinical practices. The successful candidate will be experienced operationally and strategically in all areas of large group practice management. Preferably, she/he will have a record of successful physician recruitment, and physician on-boarding and integration. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing compensation plans and negotiating physician contracts. Candidates will have the option of pursuing a limited clinical practice. Expressions of interest, nominations, and applications are welcome and can be made via the WittKieffer Candidate Portal here.
