Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
The Office of Student Accounts is in search of an Assistant Director to manage miscellaneous and Military scholarships, the Federal Nursing Loan program, third party billing, and student financial aid refunds. Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Accounts, this position will serve as an integral member of the Student Accounts management team, uniquely providing exemplary customer service in parallel with extensive data analysis and reconciliation.
Principal responsibilities include the following:
Manage and oversee the processing and maintenance of all private miscellaneous scholarships.
Supervision of team member responsible for daily private miscellaneous scholarship processing.
Facilitate the invoicing and reconciliation of all institutional scholarships including NCAA athletic scholarships, Binghamton University Foundation scholarships, campus merit-based scholarships, and Graduate tuition scholarships, while also serving as the liaison to these areas.
Maintain multiple third party contracts, as well as coordinate the third party billing process, including scheduling, distributing, and timely collection of monies due to the University.
Process and maintain all Military tuition benefit requests and payments.
Process and maintain all Veteran tuition benefit payments, maintaining a close relationship with the University's Office of Veteran Services.
Oversee and coordinate the journal processing and reconciliation of multiple student financial aid funds.
Oversee the Federal Nursing Loan program, coordinating the generation, processing, record management, and transmittal of all Federal Nursing Loan documents.
Execute the review and processing of all student financial aid refunds in accordance with State and Federal regulations and Institutional policies and procedures.
Provide support and assistance with customer escalation.
Manage escalated past due accounts.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration and/or related field.
Excellent professional written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated technical aptitude and analytical skills.
Strong commitment and excellence in customer service.
Efficient in time management and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced, customer service office.
Tolerance of ambiguity, flexibility and a sense of humor are essential.
Two or more years of customer service and/or business/financial experience, preferably in higher education.
Prior work experience in Higher Education and with student information systems, preferably Banner.
