Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator for the Office of Career Exploration and Success (formerly University Career Services). This position reports to the Associate Director for Experiential Education, Leadership, and Discovery with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) Vice-Dean for Undergraduate Education. The Senior Program Coordinator oversees experiential education programming, manages the Rutgers Internship & Co-op Program (RICP) and other courses, provides career counseling services to students, and serves as the primary expert on all internship-related matters, including the convening of the campus-wide Internship Council (comprised of 52 academic internship coordinators).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Partners with the School of Arts and Sciences to continually review internship-related course curriculum to ensure optimal outcomes and, at the discretion of SAS, teach one or more sections of the internship and/or the Career Explorations in Arts and Sciences course each semester.
Works with the RU Office of General Counsel to develop/refine vetting policies for internships, handles articulation agreements and responses policies for workplace issues encountered by student interns.
Designs, publicizes, and delivers small and large-group programs on various experiential education topics as well as general career exploration topics.
Hires, trains, and supervises student and co-adjunct employees.
Participates in department, unit, and team meetings as well as monthly career advising round tables and other avenues of professional development.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or related experiences.
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong student-focused orientation with strong pedagogic skills, especially in the online environment
Exceptional counseling skills, familiarity with changing patterns in labor force demands
Knowledge of career development and career theory, as well as good organizational, presentation, administrative, and computer skills
High-energy level and receptivity to change is also important
A master's degree and experience within a career services, experiential education, higher education instruction, or workforce development setting
Experience with online course delivery and workshop facilitation
Working knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other commonly accepted standards of workplace decorum and practice including policies governing sexual and other forms of harassment
Knowledge of the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Online career tools (e.g., Canvas, Vault, People Grove, Candid Career, etc.)
Handshake career management systems
Sakai, Canvas or similar learning management platforms.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be willing to work some nights and weekends.
Salary: $55,758 - $60,000
