![]() STDT ACAD ADVISOR 2 (Undergraduate Program Advisor) Job Summary Under direction of the Computer Science Undergraduate Program Manager, independently provide undergraduate student support services to two majors within two separate colleges; Computer Science in the College of Letters and Science (CS) and Computer Science Engineering in the College of Engineering (CSE). Provide comprehensive, advanced academic advising on a wide range of often complex issues to undergraduate students. Provide support to the Undergraduate Program Manager for the implementation of the Department's assessment process in compliance with the colleges mandated accreditation organizations (ABET/UIPR/WASC). Provide consultation on matters of undergraduate education and academic advising to the department, College faculty, faculty governance committees, department staff, and staff and faculty from other colleges and campuses, student affairs units, and the general public. Provide development and implementation of outreach, recruitment, admission, and retention efforts for undergraduate students. Represent the department on undergraduate matters with substantial delegated authority. QUALIFICATIONS Required: Experience in holistic advising and counseling approaches and experience with academic policies, procedures and requirements in a higher education setting; recommending solutions to progression and requirement issues; skills to make proper referrals to other campus resources. Experience in problem identification, reasoning, analysis to identify trends; skills to find solutions to conflicting situations. Skills in judgment and decision-making, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing; skills to interact with individuals of varying ages and cultural backgrounds and perspectives. Experience in making decisions independently, manage details of complex projects and processes aligned with strategic priorities from start to finish with minimal direction, and to adapt to constantly shifting priorities and outcomes. Preferred: Experience in curriculum planning processes and best practices; knowledge of undergraduate and graduate courses and degree requirements. Organizational and administrative skills to develop and implement new programs and/or material to better meet the undergraduate advising needs of the Department. Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Background Check This position is a critical position and subject to a background check.
