Teach primarily undergraduate/graduate health & physical education content and methods courses. May supervise health and physical education practicum in schools.
Serve as health or physical education teacher education coordinator; review and collaborate with FasTrack health and physical education candidates.
Incumbent may teach other major program courses and liberal education courses as needed by the department.
Contribute to a program of scholarship within the discipline, academic advising of undergraduate students, service to the department, university and community, and other associated faculty duties.
Contribute to interdisciplinary teaching and distance learning delivery; involvement in activities that support Bemidji State University's shared fundamental values: Civic engagement and leadership, international and multicultural understanding, belief in the power of the liberal arts and environmental stewardship
Successful applicant is expected to contribute to a collegial and supportive environment that advances departmental goals, including curriculum development, program/course assessment, teacher licensure and other departmental governance activities.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn Minnesota PELSB standards and utilize D2L Brightspace, TaskStream, EdTPA; and deliver distance online courses guided by Quality Matters.
As a member of the graduate faculty, the incumbent is expected to fulfill all duties and responsibilities expected of graduate faculty.

PhD/EdD in health, physical education, kinesiology, human performance, exercise science, or related field from a regionally accredited institution at the start of employment required.
Undergraduate degree in health, physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, or related field required; physical education & health education preferred.
Current or previous health & physical education teacher licensures with a minimum of 2 years of full- time teaching in health and/or physical education in the K-12 school setting required; State licensure preferred
Minimum of 2 years of recent work experience related to academic preparation required; work experience in health, physical education, or exercise science preferred.
Knowledge of/or willingness to learn relevant MN licensure and national program attainment/renewal requirements needed for accreditation.
Commitment to quality teaching is required through demonstrated effective communication skills, teaching skills, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
Skills/ability to design and deliver online courses; experience with course management software, such as D2L Brightspace and knowledge of Quality Matters standards preferred.
The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
Knowledge of or demonstrated involvement/membership in relevant professional state and national organizations (i.e. SHAPE America)
