Immigration Fellow Grant-Funded, 32-hr/week position for period of January 2, 2020 – December 31, 2020 Washington, DC
The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) seeks a motivated, organized individual who enjoys learning on the job to join the CCCU staff as our Immigration Fellow. The successful candidate will be smart, pro-active, compassionate, and passionate about Christian higher education and/or immigration policy. The Fellow will help coordinate and administer a grant-funded project to host gatherings nationwide for Christian college administrators and students to engage the topic of immigration advocacy. In the process, the Fellow will learn about Christian higher education, immigration, and experience the full spectrum of operations required to execute successful events nationwide and how to coordinate and manage a grant-funded project from implementation to evaluation. Throughout the fellowship, the Fellow will engage in a wide variety of work, including but not limited to: event planning; membership engagement, marketing, communication, and relationship building; research and data analysis; and database management.
The fellowship will run for one year. The fellow will work 32 hours a week, which may occasionally require a few weekends for traveling to the convenings. The fellow will receive $16/hour plus benefits.

Event Administration Functions:
Coordinate and manage all event logistics for four regional convenings including but not limited to: handling communication to venues related to room set-ups, food and beverage, and audio/visual; managing the registration process; and coordinating travel and lodging for appropriate CCCU staff and speakers.
Manage speaker coordination; serve as point of contact for speakers, coordinate pre-event planning phone calls, provide travel, housing, and audio-visual assistance as needed, and ensuring appropriate thank you and follow-up post-event.
Coordinate with CCCU staff, host campus, and speakers on programming for regional convenings.
Work with the government relations team to develop resources and materials for attendees.
Oversee preparation of pre-conference shipments and supplies.
Manage and update event webpages.
Draft and manage the regional convening invitation process to CCCU institutions.
Travel to all events to manage and oversee logistics.
Create post-event surveys and subsequent reports.
Assist supervisor in budget management of regional convenings.
Grant Administration Functions:
Develop and manage travel grant process including developing criteria and application process as well as the selection and notification process to awardees.
Provide post-event support, guidance, and accountability to participating CCCU institutions to ensure they complete the required tasks required by grant.
Assist supervisor in developing and maintaining overall grant evaluation process and progress reports.
Research and stay up-to-date on federal immigration policy.

Persons applying for the position should:
Affirm the Nicene Creed and have an appreciation for the Christian mission and purpose of the CCCU and its BestSemester programs
Have a strong interest in U.S. immigration policy
Have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Have experience completing detailed research projects
Be competent in computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite
Have a good grasp of databases and understand database logic
Be detail-oriented, highly organized, flexible and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Previous experience with grant-funded projects a plus
Be able to travel at least four times in the year to various regions of the United States
Benefits and Compensation:
$16.00/hr for 32-hours/week for 12 months
