The Minneapolis VA Health Care System, a large teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Minnesota, seeks full-time outpatient primary care physicians. At the Minneapolis VA, primary care physicians care for a panel of patients in a team-based environment that offers integrated in-clinic mental health, clinical pharmacy, and physical therapy services. A full range of consultative services is available on site, from preventive patient wellness programs to advanced medical and surgical specialties. The Minneapolis VA has active research programs and is a core training site for the University of Minnesota Medical School. Opportunities for academic engagement include (but are not limited to) teaching and clinical precepting for medical students and internal medicine residents. Internists may serve as teaching attendings on inpatient medicine wards for 1-2 weeks at a time. Essential qualifications of successful candidates include excellent interpersonal communication, creative problem-solving skills, and desire to work in a multidisciplinary primary care team. Experience in clinical education or quality improvement is preferred. Qualified candidates will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
