DIRECTOR OF ADVANCEMENT
REPORTS TO:Head of School
JOB PURPOSE: Provide strategic direction and manage the institutional advancement program; implement the major and planned giving programs, and oversight of annual giving, alumni relations, communications and advancement services.
Advance the School‘s strategic priorities as determined by governing board policies and in close collaboration with the Head of School, with specific responsibility for communicating and building philanthropic support.
Serve on the senior Strategic Leadership Team.
Develop and implement proactive and strategic major gift cultivation efforts that use senior staff and volunteers to identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts.
Work closely with the Head of School in her efforts to integrate into the Greensboro philanthropic community and cultivate major gift prospects; includes regular meetings to review prospect lists, outline prospect contacts, discuss strategy, report calls, and establish next steps.
Manage a portfolio of major prospects assigned for cultivation and solicitation.
Develop and implement capital campaigns to fund facilities and programs, and build an endowment, and oversee all other fundraising activities including annual, corporate and foundation giving and other school-related solicitations.
Liaise with the Advancement Committee and Committee on Trustees of the Board of Trustees; attend appropriate committee meetings as needed.
Oversee goal setting, evaluation, and reporting of development, alumni relations, and advancement services programs.
Engage advancement staff in an annual goal-setting exercise and performance reviews to evaluate success in achieving agreed-upon goals.
Develop and oversee implementation of prospect management, donor relations, and stewardship.
Serves as a role model to faculty through the active participation and leadership opportunities in professional organizations
Reads professional publications and maintains personal networks
Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

A proven fundraising leader/administrator as evidenced by quantifiable results
Ten years or more experience in an advancement leadership position, preferably a school setting
A track record of successful generative initiatives
A life-long learner; a demonstrated up-to-date knowledge of industry trends
Current specialized fundraising knowledge from every aspect of the office; database management; stewardship, cultivation and solicitation innovations; record keeping
All other skills necessary to accomplish the goals
Education: BA/BS required; advanced degree preferred; maintains professional certifications
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Regular evening and weekend work required.
