Research Compliance Specialist / Assistant Facility Security Officer
The George Mason University Research Support Office invites applications for a Research Compliance Specialist / Assistant Facility Security Officer.
The primary responsibilities of the position include: Assisting in the coordination and tracking of export and sanctions compliance training; maintaining compliance records; performing restricted party screening; supporting research compliance activities related to projects involving Controlled Unclassified Information; and drafting technology control plans, export authorization requests, and other documents, as needed. The position will serve as Assistant Facility Security Officer and assist in the administration of the facility security program. This includes processing visit requests; maintaining foreign travel logs; tracking annual training requirements and requirements of cleared new hires; participating in self-inspections and annual assessments; assisting with reporting requirements to the US Government; and utilizing DoD database systems.
The Research Compliance Specialist / Assistant Facility Security Officer will divide time between the Fairfax campus and Mason's secure offsite location.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
TS/SCI clearance or the ability and willingness to obtain TS/SCI clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
Interest in supporting research compliance efforts and developing professional expertise in substantive areas such as export control and sanctions laws and regulations, conflict of interest, and research misconduct.
One to three years of experience in a field that demonstrates the ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple projects
Proven commitment to accuracy and thoroughness
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office
Juris Doctorate degree
Paralegal or legal secretary experience
Strong litigation support skills
Experience administering a classified program
Knowledge of export and sanctions laws and regulations
Experience working in a university environment
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
