ECTC Workforce Solutions Department is seeking Coding Trainers for our new highly selective and competitive Greater Knox Coding Academy. They will be instructing students in seventeen-week cohorts covering Java coding and software development and additional training to complete the CompTIA A+ and Security+ certifications.
In this role, our Coding Trainers would be at the center of the student experience and should emphasize and demonstrate the meta-skills and core concepts of professional software development and coding. Teaching and developing students to become computer coders and pass the certification exams is a large portion of the position responsibility.
As a trainer, you will have approximately 25 students in a blended classroom environment. Academy graduates who pass the certification exams will be eligible for high paying civilian jobs with international & national government contractors as well as other corporations.
Program objective include:
Instruct and train students in performance-based instructional coursework in Java programming, CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA A+ protocols.
Prepare students for certification exams (Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 8 Programmer Certification; CompTIA Security+ Certification; CompTIA A+ Certification, and other exams as identified)
Oversee entry process for Coding Academy
Trainers should have a minimum of 5 years of industry experience as a software developer with current certifications.
Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 8 Programmer Certification
Ability to teach in a highly interactive and hands-on style
Translating complex materials to adult learners
Strong interpersonal skills and effective communicator
Prior teaching/training experience preferred, but not required
Available for instruction during the day
