The Associate Director, Skidmore Fund works with the Senior Director, Skidmore Fund to develop and promote a culture of lifelong giving to Skidmore among key constituents of the College. The Associate Director is responsible for managing annual fund strategies and results (dollar and donors) in 10-15 individual classes, and recruits, motivates, and trains a group of 50-75 alumni fundraising volunteers. The Associate Director also manages Skidmore Fund print and email communications, multiple fundraising initiatives (including Giving Tuesday, Giving Day, Alumni Challenges, Friends of Skidmore Athletics) as well as reporting and data analysis for these areas. Duties include developing and implementing the overall strategic plan for assigned programs, setting and meeting of key goals and metrics, writing and producing requisite print, electronic, and social media materials as needed. The Associate Director is also responsible for developing philanthropic relationships with an assigned group of alumni and volunteers; identifying capacity, interests, and inclination, educating and cultivating these individuals, soliciting gifts, and stewarding donors and volunteers appropriately.
The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, embrace the essence of creativity and the Skidmore brand, “Creative Thought Matters,” is detail-oriented, and is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. In addition, the successful candidate must demonstrate good decision making, with a commitment to flexibility and working in a team environment, and possess a sense of humor and a valid driver’s license. A familiarity with technology and social networking platforms as well as occasional travel to interact with volunteers and prospects, including periodic night and weekend commitments, is expected.
3-5 years in Advancement or related field. Demonstrated success working with volunteers, developing philanthropic relationships, and project management.
