The Memory Keepers Medical Discovery Team-Health Equity (MK-MDT), University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus, is seeking a grant writer. Reporting to the executive director, this grant writer will be responsible for all aspects of fundraising from identification of funding opportunities to tracking, reporting, and dissemination of findings from successful applications. The grant writer will assist all MDT investigators in grant writing by applying their knowledge and experience with fundraising methods and plans to translate the MK-MDT mission and vision into a well-funded research portfolio.
Grant writing (80%) -Developing relationships and collaborating with key stakeholders. -Displaying adherence to the MK-MDT’s mission. -Maintaining proficient knowledge of organization’s history and programs. -Assisting with the development of the MK-MDT's funding strategy. -Identifying federal, state, and local grant funding opportunities. -Writing, editing, submitting, and managing grant proposals in collaboration with other MKMDT faculty and staff . -Furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents. -Collaborate with investigators on outreach to funders via newsletters, on- and off-campus meetings, and on-site tours. -Collaborating with the investigators and staff to compile and submission of annual reports. -Maintaining records in hard copies and computer databases.
Community Outreach & Engagement (20%) -Participate in research meetings with community partners. -Prepare grant-related briefing notes, background reports, and other meeting materials for participating community partners. -Prepare dissemination presentations and reports to community partner agencies and governing bodies. -Serve on committees as requested representing the MK-MDT.

Required Qualifications: BA/BS and at least 4 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal eight years. Senior individual contributor who often is a designated lead or who frequently is assigned project leadership roles within a function or similarly-sized organization usually in the same discipline.
Preferred Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree in creative writing or related field. -At least four years of grant writing experience with evidence of a high level of success. -Proficient with measuring and reaching funding timelines & goals. -Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel and NIH’s ASSIST. -Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources. -Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. -Strong people skills, excellent organizational skills & ability manage teams. -Cultural sensitivity and/or experience with American Indian/First Nations or Indigenous communities.
