Position Overview: ADAPT for Active Duty is a research project studying a parenting program for military families located at Fort Belvoir and Joint Base Myer Henderson-Hall. ADAPT strives to learn about family resilience and develop tools to support parenting and resilience among military families coping with the stress of deployment and reintegration. This is a multi-year longitudinal study involving parents and children. The ADAPT research team is looking for motivated responsible individuals who are able to work independently to provide childcare for families participating in the ADAPT study. Childcare may be provided at in-home assessments or during parenting interventions sessions held on the local installation or within the local area.
Provide child care (100%)
Provide in-home child care during team assessments with families on as-need basis
Provide child care during parenting interventions on an as-need basis
Respond to all communications from the Site Coordinator/Site Coordinator Assistant in a timely manner to convey availability and work schedule.
Has completed a Child Care National Agency Check and Inquiries (CNACI), which is required for work with military families
Availability on late afternoon/evenings and weekends
Previous experience working with children (e.g., babysitting, tutoring, mentoring)
Interest in working with children of multiple age ranges and from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds
Willingness to be flexible, take initiative, and work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers
Must be willing to travel to parenting group sites or families’ homes. Carpooling will be arranged as needed.
Must be punctual for all assessments and parenting groups
Reliable access to a vehicle
