The American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA) has an exciting new position available – Vice President, Practice Engagement & Capacity Building. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and directing Association activities and projects related to advancing occupational therapy practice through standards setting and professional advocacy.
Specific projects will relate to the following:
Guiding strategic and operational directions and activities that advance, transform and innovate occupational therapy practice to meet current and future needs of occupational therapy practitioners.
Monitoring key OT practice issues and contributes to activities regarding legislation, regulations, reimbursement, scope of practice, in close collaboration with various Policy staff teams.
Serving as practice subject matter expert by monitoring the environment and leading efforts to advance emerging practice areas.
Representing AOTA and supporting advocacy for OT practice by engaging in a variety of activities with professional groups, government and non-governmental agencies, organizations and coalitions.
Provides programmatic and operational oversight for new and ongoing initiatives such as: practice knowledge/content development, scope of practice & standards setting, interprofessional & intraprofessional collaborative practice, stakeholder engagement, and practice advocacy & identity building
Assuring that programs and initiatives are evaluated for viability, improvement and continued relevance.
The successful candidate should have strong leadership, management, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple large projects effectively. Initial certification as an occupational therapy practitioner. Doctoral degree in occupational therapy, public health, or other compatible field is highly desired. Requires a minimum of 10 + years of related work experience, or a combination of formal education and experience. Volunteer leadership in Association activities is desirable.The candidate must be technologically proficient in a Windows environment.
