Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer for Prisma Health, the Executive Director, Post-Acute Care is responsible for the professional practice of nursing in post-acute care settings for Prisma Health. Position ensures a high level of quality patient care is provided in post-acute settings by enhancing multidisciplinary collaboration, streamlining operations, and providing strong communication among nurses, physicians, other patient caregivers, and administrators throughout the system. Participates with governing body management, medical staff, and clinical leaders in decision-making processes including development and execution of the health company's strategic plan for nursing and the system, program development, and performance improvement activities. Works with leaders in facilities to ensure alignment of nursing standards of care and achievement of health company goals. Provides leadership and direction for nursing in post-acute care settings, while promoting an organizational climate through which collaborative and interdisciplinary planning is achieved. Participates with governing body, management, medical staff and clinical leaders in the system's strategic planning, performance improvement activities and decision-making structures and processes. Participates in post-acute care/medical staff committee meetings as required. Essential Functions Responsible for establishing standards of nursing practice for system wide post-acute care settings. Supports a professional practice environment in which the culture is creative, efficient, and empowered. Responsible for meeting all regulatory and licensing requirements of various accreditation bodies with regard to patient care. Initiates corrective action as necessary. Strongly cultivates and maintains physician relationships aimed toward enhancing the provision of patient care. Develops and implements a program that enhances nursing recruitment and retention while assuring patient care and nursing services operates within budget. Develops strong communication channels among nursing, other patient care services, administrative, and medical staff to assure that care is customer focused and delivered in a cost-effective manner. Implements effective outcome focused performance improvement programs to assure that nursing and patient care practice standards for post-acute are consistent within the system. Prepares annual operating and capital budgets along with workforce management plans for areas of responsibility. Defines for areas of responsibility the qualifications and job expectations of staff and establishes accountability for assuring that these are met. Performs a variety of human resource functions including the interviewing, evaluating and counselling of management and staff. Fosters an empowered workforce through role clarification, delegation of responsibility and accountability.

Excellent business acumen and proven results relative to productivity, business plan development, process improvement, quality measurements, patient satisfaction, and staff. Candidates should possess at least five years of senior level management experience in a post-acute setting with an organization of similar size and scope. Candidates with substantive nursing leadership experience in large/complex academic medical centers will also be considered. |
