Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Asst. Athletic Director – Compliance for the University Office of Athletic Compliance. This position reports to the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. The Asst. Athletic Director manages all athletic compliance matters as they relate to the men’s basketball program, including oversight of adherance to Bylaw(s) 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, and 20.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides timely rules education to all individuals involved with the men’s basketball program, monitoring the program’s activities, providing game day support at home contests and for selected away competitions, and ensuring their adherance with all NCAA, Big Ten Conference and institutional requirements.
Manages the institution’s NCAA Requests/Self-Report Online system (RSRO) and ensure all potential NCAA and Big Ten Conference violations are fully investigated and, if necessary, reported through the proper mechanisms.
Tracks, reviews and submits all self-reports involving NCAA violations (Level III) and all waiver and reinstatement requests made to the NCAA.
Serves as an additional internal liaison to the audit staff while they perform their annual audit.
Supervises all aspects associated with Bylaw(s) 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, and 20 for an additional subset of sports and liaison groups as well as completing other duties as assigned.
Creates and executes policies and procedures for enhanced institutional control consistent with NCAA and conference governance reform.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of five(5) years minimum relevant experience (preferably experience at a Division I campus, Division I Conference Office, or the NCAA).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail required.
Excellent working knowledge of NCAA Division I rules required.
Sound working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and LSDBi necessary.
Ability to articulate and interpret complex issues for internal and external constituents.
Master's or Law degree. Working knowledge of JumpForward and the NCAA Requests/Self-Report Online system.
Prior Division I campus, Division I Conference Office, or the NCAA experience strongly preferred.
Computer to include all Microsoft software, access to the NCAA Applications, JumpForward and other presentation software.
In addition, the position requires the use of a cellular telephone to respond to inquiries and other timely matters outside of the traditional working hours.
