The University of Delaware seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to advance excellence in research, education and outreach programs as the next of Chair of the Department of Applied Economics and Statistics. The blending of economic and statistics disciplines is unique to this department and the position offers the opportunity to lead a one-of-a-kind unit that is focused on quantitative and behavioral sciences.
The Department conducts innovative and impactful teaching, research and outreach in areas including experimental economics, with a focus on agricultural and environmental issues through the department’s Center for Experimental and Applied Economics; statistical methodology and applications in high dimensional data and machine learning with applications to environmental statistics, genomics, and finance; and extension programs in agribusiness risk management serving the state and region. The Department has fourteen faculty, and six professional and administrative staff. The department offers undergraduate degrees in Food and Agribusiness Marketing and Management, Environmental and Resource Economics, and Statistics, and master’s degrees in Agriculture and Resource Economics, Statistics, and Applied Statistics (online). The chair will represent the Department and its programs across the university and to external stakeholders, and participate actively in the administration of the College along with the dean, associate deans, and other chairs and unit leaders.
