Provides professional staff support to the Dean of the college in matters affecting all academic areas. Advises on academic, organizational and institutional matters. Interfaces with senior staff to address concerns and brings projects to completion. Analyzes and assists in the development of strategies to meet university and college goals.
Provides evaluation, input, and guidance to the Dean on short-term and long-range planning activities. Coordinates the activities of the Dean and facilitates proper time management of his activities.
Coordinates the preparation of various college reports.
Assists the Dean and senior staff with ad hoc problem solving.
Represents the Dean on committees and other cooperative projects.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree and 5 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
Coordinate daily schedule with internal and external parties, including staff, UH administrators, alumni, students, Board of Regents, government officials and community leaders.
Supervise projects initiated by Dean as requested, coordinating with college staff and supervising student workers as needed.
Maintain weekly donor acknowledgment process, including thank you letters and customized gifts. Train advancement assistants in donor acknowledgement and stewardship process.
Maintain alumni and donor records.
Support faculty & staff initiatives by maintaining quality of internal events. Enhance profile of Honors College by supporting and partnering with other colleges, departments and community groups to produce exemplary events.
With Dean, Associate Dean, development officer and DT, develop overall plans, timeline and budget for timely execution of all aspects of college-sponsored major events, including but not limited to: Lence Master Dinner & Residency, Convocation, Common Ground Institute, annual awards and honor society dinners.
Maintain Honors College events and room calendars (exclusive of class scheduling.) Coordinate food and equipment ordering, IT support and setup needs for HC minors, programs, and faculty-sponsored events in the Honors College.
Maintain purchasing card for College-sponsored events. Maintain accurate records of expenses via credit card or voucher.
Lead biweekly events meetings and distribute notes post-meeting.
With Dean and Associate Dean, develop overall plans, timeline and budget for timely execution of college-sponsored community outreach activities, such as Common Ground Institute and Phi Beta Kappa Academy.
