• Develop strategic direction for the Center, in alignment with the mission of the Center and with the Institute's strategic plan.


• Provide leadership and support for faculty, staff and community partners in the delivery of current K-12 programs and the development of new ones as appropriate


• Develop a research agenda for the Center, based on the Center's mission, programs, and overall direction


• Fund-raise in support of the Center, working in collaboration with the Office of Research and Strategic Partnerships, and with Institutional Advancement, as appropriate


• Manage the Center's day-to-day operations, including:
  
  
  
  • Supervising a small staff
  
  
  • Developing and managing the Center's budget
  
  
  • Ensuring effective administration of current programs, with attention to both policy and process including (but not limited to) hiring and supervision of program faculty and teaching assistants, student enrollment, and program marketing
  
  
  • Evaluating effectiveness of individual programs and the Center as a whole, collecting robust data and developing success measures that include (but are not limited to) the following: student learning outcomes; faculty, student and community partner satisfaction
  
  
  • Reporting on current programs to funders and to the Institute, etc.
  
  
  
  

• Demonstrated ability to lead and succeed in an environment that is committed to, and strengthened by, the diversity of its members and the communities it represents


• Knowledge of current research and best practices in community engagement in higher education, in art and design education (K-12), and in relevant research fields, along with a pragmatic sense of how to use this knowledge to shape a strong program


• Deep understanding of how to foster student success


• Demonstrated ability to plan and implement complex projects, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously (including timelines, staffing, budgets, and workflow)


• Demonstrated ability to supervise a small staff, with attention to their professional development, and to work collaboratively with partners across different areas and communities


• Strong advocacy skills


• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

• A nimble, collegial work style

• An MA, MFA or equivalent required in Art and Design Education (K-12) or a related field; doctorate strongly preferred.


• 5+ relevant experience required, with demonstrated leadership experience, as well as experience teaching art or design K-12; experience working in higher education strongly preferred.


• A track record of research activity strongly preferred
