This position is in Patient Billing, Customer Service Department. THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesThe Collections Representatives are responsible for securing payment and/or funding on high dollar self-pay accounts, establish payment arrangements per policy, obtain insurance information, determine eligibility for government programs or other agency programs and obtain financial screenings. Respond to telephone calls and in office visits from patients/responsible parties regarding billing questions. Contact insurance carriers and Attorneys to seek third party reimbursement and negotiate settlements. Required Qualifications
  • Collections experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Experience navigating through the complexities of multiple billing systems to be able to retrieve, asses, change and adjust account information
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical and Insurance terminology and medical billing/reimbursement requirements and procedures, including government programs, contracted private insurance and third-party programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting practices to perform complex audits of accounts with multiple payers.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, FDCPA and other credit and collections rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and International classification of disease (ICD9) polices related to medical billing.
  • Demonstrated analytical experience and skills to make determination on further action needed and experience in negotiating patient account balances.
  • Decision making skills to be able to resolve inquiry independently or refer to a higher authority.
  • Ability to communicate constructively, tactful and diplomatically with staff, supervisor, manager and administration
  • Bilingual in Spanish speaking highly desired
