Your Role: You will apply the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.

Position Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program and 1 of year relevant experience
Preferred:
- Strong desire to work in psychiatric nursing
- BSN preferred
- Desire to work with patients affected by psychotic disorders
Position Shift:
Shift : Day, Evening, and Night 8-hour Shifts Are Available
Department/Unit Summary:
Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital is an 106-bed facility. It has three adult units in addition to a Child and Adolescent Unit. The Adult I unit treats patients with thought disorders. Our Adult II unit treats patients with addictions as well as a co-morbid psychiatric illness, resulting in a population of addicted pregnant women and patients with chronic addiction issues. Adult III is a mood-disorder unit with a small geriatric component. The Child and Adolescent Unit is one unit, but functions as two based on age; children ages 4-12 and adolescents ages 13-18. We treat patients with a variety of diagnoses, ranging from Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and autism, oppositional defiance disorder, to depression and first-break psychosis. Adult IV consists of 14 beds reserved for the voluntary treatment of primary psychotic disorders and mood disorders. The goal in Adult IV is a supportive transition plan for outpatient treatment.

RN Sign-On Bonus Eligibility Requirements:
* Registered Nurses who have at least six months of RN experience may be eligible for the sign-on bonus for certain departments.
* Registered Nurses who have less than 2 years of experience are eligible for a $5k sign-on bonus.
* Registered Nurses who have more than 2 years of experience are eligible for a $10k sign-on bonus.
* The sign on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past two years.
