The University of Texas Permian Basin invites applicants for the position of Business Manager – Department of Athletics. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the incumbent will be responsible for planning and conducting all business activities of the Athletics Department.
Responsible for the day-to-day business and financial operations of the UTPB athletic department, including managing travel, budgets and employment. Ensures that the department follows regulations and/or guidelines established by the University relating to budget related matters
Establishes and maintains procedures to ensure timely budget status throughout the fiscal year, prepares budget reports, reconciles accounts, and is responsible for all department purchasing activities. Acts as liaison between the Athletic Department and various university offices
Responsible for gathering data, completing and submitting athletics data to NCAA, Lone Star Conference and others as requested. Collaborates with the Athletics Compliance representative to ensure data is accurate and reports are filed timely; monitors and reports on scholarship awards in conjunction with the Athletics Compliance Officer
Partners with Human Resources to ensure that all personnel actions are processed in accordance with policy, procedure, and deadlines
Works directly with the Head Athletic Trainer on all athletic insurance matters. Assures seamless communication with appropriate college offices for efficient completion of department’s business transactions
Manages football ticket sales and all associated ticket accounting. Participates in game-day management and assists in managing various athletic events. Oversees all athletic summer camp business operations

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, 12-month exempt position. The individual holding this position will need to be available early mornings, evenings, and weekends to meet the needs of the Athletics Department.
Strong management and supervisory skills
Extensive experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong written and oral communication skills
Able to successfully pass a criminal background check
Advanced degree strongly preferred
Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics and experience with financial information systems is ideal
Experience with the fiscal management and daily operations of an intercollegiate athletics, state or local government entities strongly preferred
Solid knowledge of NCAA regulations
