Minimum Qualifications: Following are the minimum and desired qualifications:
Many RSEP programs provide education at sea to deploying naval groups and individual ships. Successful candidates must be physically able to meet the demands of teaching aboard naval vessels at sea. These demands include potentially working in confined and noisy environments, climbing steep ladders, and (if operationally necessary) flying as passengers aboard naval aircraft. These demands also include self-sufficient management of the logistical requirements of transit to and from the ships as well as ship-board living. Responsibilities: RSEP adjunct faculty will work with RSEP staff and other NPS faculty to design, plan and deliver educational briefings on specific topics within the general areas of interest and expertise, tailored to deploying forces’ requirements. Preparation includes development of supportive instructional materials (e.g. PowerPoint presentations). Many briefings will be provided in at-sea programs during a deployment leg typically 10-14 days in duration. At-sea RSEP programs may involve one contributor or several contributors coordinating as a team. Some briefings may be provided for in-port programs of shorter duration. Preparation to travel to/from foreign locations is expected. Successful candidates will be offered NPS intermittent faculty appointments. The level of faculty compensation will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the candidate. RSEP intermittent faculty appointments involve U.S. Navy training requirements. Candidates are responsible for satisfying any conflict-of-interest requirements entailed by other affiliations.
