Manage non-scientific opportunities and resources for Salkâ™s Harnessing Plants Initiative with respect to Operations, Policy and Regulatory Affairs, including coordinating and leading strategy and communications with key opinion leaders, government policy makers; coordinating internal resources for the advancement of the Initiative including the development and perfection of intellectual property and regulatory approvals; marshalling and leveraging non-monetary third party resources for the Initiative; support of the Salk Development Office with respect to fundraising for the Initiative and reporting to donors. Leading legislative, education, advocacy and policy opportunities to advance the acceptance of the Initiativeâ™s Ideal Plant solution to soil and wetland carbon sequestration including legislative support for research and development funding and regulatory approval of Ideal Plant crops; Advancing opportunities for economic policies that support the Harnessing Plants Initiative including carbon Cap & Trade programs and carbon credits.
Working with the farming community and agricultural seed companies to advance the acceptance and uptake of Salkâ™s Ideal Plant seeds. Developing and managing third party commercial agriculture company and field trial partner relationships; Developing opportunities for the global uptake of Salkâ™s Ideal Plant seeds in the developing world that are unserved by the largest commercial agriculture companies.
Serving as secretary of the Harnessing Plants Initiative Leadership committee, including agenda development and follow up. Coordinating with the Harnessing Plants Initiative Program Manager and Administrative Assistant to advance HPIâ™s objectives; Liaising and coordinating with Salkâ™s administration including the Office of Technology Development, Communications, Development, Legal, Finance and the Office of the President.
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent.
Juris Doctor Degree or experience in law firm or PhD in Life Science.
Training in agricultural or farming technology transfer or technology transfer transactions.
Must be willing to work in an animal-related research environment.
Successful completion of the Instituteâ™s background investigation.
