Position Summary: The Project/Policy Analyst reports to the Director of Operations in the Office of Diversity and Engagement at the UC Office of the President. The Office of Diversity and Engagement provides direction, leadership and oversight of UC's engagement in public education. The office manages programs, initiatives and services that prepare students to succeed academically and to ensure that they advance smoothly throughout the academic pipeline, and contributes to developing overarching strategies and approaches that advance access, diversity and inclusion across the UC system.
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices and organization policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Assists in the development and implementation of new programs, policies or procedures.

Supports the Vice Provost, Associate Vice Provost, and Executive Directors with recommendations, analysis, and quality review of the department's responses on proposed legislation; information requests that impact college readiness, campus diversity, educator preparation, and/or campus climate; and department responses to ad hoc information requests. Conceptualizes and manages project tracking on behalf of the Vice Provost and Associate Vice Provost.
Job Requirements Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in policy analysis, communications, or research; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Mastery of advanced project management and strategic planning concepts, practices, standards and processes. Demonstrated knowledge of organizational strategies and practices. Advanced knowledge of the organizational environment of higher education and large research universities to understand priorities, issues, motivations and constraints.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff; both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated research, qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to quickly develop, assess and synthesize information from multiple sources on a broad range of issues; demonstrated ability to identify findings, evaluate and communicate alternatives, and draw conclusions relating to policy or practice.
Ability to multi-task with demanding time frames and competing priorities.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and to contributing to a positive work environment. Required
Advanced degree strongly preferred.
Expert knowledge of UC's administrative policies governing travel, entertainment, and procurement preferred. Preferred
