The Enterprise Architect position is a senior-level technical position in Computing Services and Systems Development at the University of Pittsburgh. This position is responsible for enterprise-wide information technology (IT) architecture and strategic planning.
Duties include the following:
Develop and maintain an IT plan to meet the University's long-term IT goals
Assist with University IT architecture design and ensure that major University IT projects are in compliance with architectural governance, relevant strategies and policy
Consult on technology services and systems that have an enterprise-wide impact and ensure that services consistently adhere to organizational strategies and do not duplicate functionality.
This position will also be responsible for leading and creating the technology framework for the University's initiatives in cloud computing and automation. It will focus on the design and architecture of systems and services that run on the cloud platforms.
In order to successfully meet performance standards, it is critical that the individual demonstrates the following:
A broad view of advancements in technology and an in-depth proficiency with new technologies
Knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation techniques such as operating systems, multi-tenancy, virtualization, and elastic scalability
Ability to define and implement strategic direction, produce accurate financial reports, use discretion when dealing with sensitive issues, consistently meet deadlines and consistently manage stressful situations with composure and professionalism
Ability to understand and consistently apply the mission, vision and values of the University and CSSD to all work situations and tasks. They must accurately interpret, represent and consistently follow University and departmental IT policies, processes and procedures.
It is imperative that this individual positively contributes to the success of the entire organization by working collaboratively and cooperatively with other members of the leadership team. The members of the leadership team must be able to depend on their full support and the benefit of their expertise.
Qualifications include the following:
-At least 10 years of experience in managing enterprise systems and senior-level technical experience -Master's Degree in relevant field -Experience with IT in higher education is desirable -Excellent written and verbal communication skills, independent decision-making, sound professional judgment, and a high degree of initiative
Significant relevant experience may suffice to meet the advanced degree requirements of this position.
