Description of Work:
The Business Center Manager is responsible for ensuring that all financial, grants administration, and human resources transactions are provided in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines. The Business Center Manager manages business center operations and supervises business center staff executing and reviewing complex financial, grants, and human resources transactions, while supporting a culture of excellent customer service. The Business Center Manager will serve on the governance committee of the Big Red Business Center with the lead business officers from each college/unit supported by the center. The Business Center Manager will collaborate with the other governance committee members in business center action plan development and high-impact decision making, while providing operational context and expertise, and receiving customer feedback from other committee members. The Business Center Manager will also interact directly with other departmental and institutional representatives and is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the departments served.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of finance and/or human resources experience OR an associate's degree with a minimum of 7 years of finance and/or human resources experience required OR a comparable combination of education and experience considered. Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff necessary. Knowledge of finance, grants, and/or human resources terminology and practices essential. Must have demonstrated ability to effectively analyze data and inquiries, think critically, and make appropriate decisions. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information required. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats necessary. Must have demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines required. Demonstrated ability to lead people, projects, and/or teams essential.
Experience performing finance, grants, and/or human resources-related tasks in a college or university setting preferred. Experience facilitating training desirable. Experience serving multiple units as part of a service team helpful. Prefer experience performing finance, grants and/or human resources-related at a University of Nebraska institution desirable. Experience with SAP or large integrated finance or human resources system helpful. Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices preferred.
