Responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations of the Mercer Institute including, but not limited to; managing department budget; supervising professional and administrative staff; marketing Mercer Institute products to generate new corporate and customized training sales; supervising trainers and vendors; and developing project budgets. Manager keeps current with new technology in order to develop and recommend programs based on new technology; assists with curriculum development; writes DOL grants; and markets and sells private training programs. Spends a portion of time each week out in the community prospecting for new business contacts and sale opportunities. Manager works in collaboration with other areas in the Division of Lifelong Learning, the college community and external bodies and organizations. • Prepares strategic plan with short- and long-range goals to continually develop, improve, assess and implement customized training programs and meet financial requirements. • Plan, implement, coordinate, direct and manage customized training programs for local business and industry partners. • Provides leadership to ensure continuous quality improvement; provides guidance in policies and procedures; trains, supports, supervises and evaluates staff. • Oversees the approved budgets for assigned areas and functions. • Assists in the development of partnerships with other organizations; represents the college with related government, community and business organizations. • Prepares/oversees the preparation of required reports, including budget recommendations, client follow-up, and accreditation reports. • Provides leadership in the revenue generating activities of the contracted training unit to ensure positive revenue flow. • Provides guidance in the acquisition and management of grants. • Initiates and maintains contracts and agreements for specialized programs through government agencies, businesses/organizations and community college partners. • Ensures that all contractual obligations are met and that reports are submitted according to established due dates. • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 3 to 5 years’ experience in consultative sales or sale of customized training programs; and knowledge of training and development programs and assessments. Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle.
