Serve as the primary liaison between the university's most senior development professionals and all on and off-campus constituencies with whom they work, including offices within Alumni Affairs and Development, Cornell administrators, Trustees, donors, volunteers, and faculty. Provide high level and broad-based administrative support for three Principal Gifts Officers (PGOs) and three Principal Gifts Associates (PGAs) and occasional support for other key development staff, including the Associate Vice President for Principal Gifts. Perform background research and maintain master files, which may include developing and maintaining computer databases. Provide general administrative support for and occasionally coordinate campus visits and special events. Coordinate all meeting arrangements and oversee preparation of meeting materials, ensuring accuracy under strict timeliness.
Associates Degree; more than 2 years, but less than 4 years relevant experience or equivalent. Must be able to exercise sound judgment, timely and appropriate follow-thorough, and independent proactive thinking in supporting the most senior development officers, who travel frequently. Must be detail oriented and have the demonstrated ability and organizational skills to establish priorities, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, are required. Must be discreet and have a proven track-record of handling highly sensitive and confidential information. Must be able to work effectively with both internal and external constituencies, including the university's highest level donors; the university's senior administrative offices, including the President's, Provost's, and deans' offices; faculty and staff from across the campus; and colleagues throughout the division. Strong computer skills and experience working with word processing, spreadsheets and databases is required. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
A Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent in educational training and experience would be beneficial. Would prefer five or more years of experience supporting high-level professionals in higher education, industry or government. Experience working with the Alumni Affairs and Development informational systems (Peoplesoft, OBIEE, Tableau) would be beneficial. Experience working with Peoplesoft, Filemaker, Access, Excel, Brio, Publisher and Microsoft Office Suite applications is preferred. Experience in preparing written materials requiring research is desired.
