GENERAL DUTIES: Provide leadership in meetings the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Breast Center. Manage the department in an efficient and cost effective manner. Assure appropriate procedures are followed in order to provide high quality patient care in conjunction with other departments, all within the constraints and direction of CCC Administration, Radiologist and local, state and federal regulatory agencies. Work directly with State surveyors, licensing agencies and the American College of Radiologists for all accreditations, surveys and licenses for the department.
These services further the vision of Desert Regional Medical Center to create unique environments, where patients, their families, doctors and staff come together to achieve longer and better lives in the fight against cancer.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Direct all technical and operational aspects of the Department regarding services, programs, licensing, compliance and staffing required, including but not limited to hiring, training, evaluating performance, and disciplining personnel. Establish and manage work schedules, establish priorities, policies and procedures, assure that new employees are trained correctly. Conduct regular performance evaluations for the Radiology staff, conduct evaluation of new staff, prior to the completion of the orientation period. Conducts departmental inservice for new staff. Provide leadership in planning the annual and long-term goals of the Department. Work with CCC Administration, Medical Director and Lead Radiologist to establish goals and objectives then lead the department in meeting all. Report progress to Administration and Medical Director on a regular basis. Lead in identifying and demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and condition of the patient being served and where necessary assist with special procedures. Exercises independent judgment and decision-making and employs problem solving techniques for on-the-spot decisions. Directs and coordinates Quality control and Quality Assurance testing/program and documentation. Assures proper maintenance of records regarding equipment and test results. Manage Radiation Safety Officer to ensure proper radiation safety procedures are being followed. Establish oversee, and maintain Departmental records and reports as required. Provide collaborative, positive approach in interacting with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and the general public. Provide leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental goals and objectives. Promotes interdepartmental relationships or quality and continuity of patient care. Provide leadership and vision in the planning for new services and makes recommendations for equipment, facilities, and personnel as required. Leads in the development of the annual operating and capital budget. Provides leadership and independent-decision making in cost control, and in the coordination, and as needed, initiates the purchasing of department equipment within the requirements of company policy. Plans annual Breast Cancer Awareness Marketing Campaign with Administration, Marketing and Physicians. Provides TV interviews and educational talks on the importance of breast cancer screenings and diagnostic services with the goal of detecting cancer early for better chances of survival. Leads the Department and ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting agencies by monitoring the operations, programs, services and physical properties of the department on a continual basis, implements corrective actions as required. Provides for professional growth and development of staff, through identification of needs, leading in-house training programs, encouraging educational efforts and evaluation of same. Leads in recruitment, interviewing and selection of staff for the department.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ï¿½ Complies with regulatory requirements (i.e. TJC) appropriate for position. ï¿½ Current CRT, ARRT certification, Mammography license (maintain current at all times) ï¿½ 5 years or more of supervisory skills preferably in a hospital setting ï¿½ CT, Routine Diagnostic and mammography experience 5 years or more in each modality Proficient with local, state and federal requirements (TJC) pertaining to Radiology ï¿½ Proficient with MQSA and all State regulations ï¿½ Operating and Capital budget preparation ï¿½ Good to excellent communication skills
