The UW Medical Center - Northwest Emergency Department has an outstanding opportunity for a part time, evening shift REGISTERED MEDICAL ASSISTANT. The Medical Assistant supports RNs, ARNPs, and MDs in the evaluation and treatment of emergency department patients. As a key member of the health care team, the Medical Assistant provides ongoing communication with emergency staff regarding patient concerns and clinical conditions, and helps to maintain an environment that respects cultural, economic, ethnic and lifestyle differences.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides Patient Care
Performs Point-of-Care (POC) Testing, splinting, and wound care
Performs accurate and timely electrocardiograms
Assists patients to exam room and documents patient history, medications and vital signs
Assists RN with triage process
Facilitates flow of patients and maximizes operational efficiency
Equipment, Supplies and Work Environment
Maintains clean, stocked exam rooms
Inventories, orders and restocks supplies
Emergency Department Support
Obtains records from medical records or other clinics or hospitals
Transports patients within hospital departments
Answers questions and follows through on inquiries
Eligible for licensure as a Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R), AND currently holds active licensure as a CNA, EMS, EMT, or Military Equivalent in the State of Washington
6 months of experience in an Emergency Room or Emergency Department; or equivalent experience
Previous work experience in emergency medical services or paramedic services
