The Center for Career Exploration and Success (CCES) in the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS) at Miami University seeks a Career Advisor/Assistant Director who will liaise to the Farmer School of Business (FSB) and the College of Arts and Science (CAS). This position will support student career development in five major areas:
Development and coordination of innovative career-related programs strategically devised for the specific needs of FSB and CAS students.
Establish proactive and effective liaison relationships with faculty and staff within FSB and CAS and serve as the primary contact within CCES for assigned academic departments and units.
Seek out, promote, and effectively complete career advising, exploration and career assessment appointments.
Work to engage employers, alumni and/or parents in programs and services in conjunction with Employer Relations Team, and
Leverage institutional data to drive decision making about services offered to this population of students and conduct relevant assessments to understand if services and programs are meeting student needs.
The Career Advisor/Assistant Director will also advance programming and services related to their assigned Career Interest Cluster(s) and serve on the Career Development Team within CCES. CCES is a growing office with an ambitious strategic plan designed to situate students for lifelong professional success. Our efforts in collaboration with Miami’s Career Community, extend beyond the typical career center offerings as we strive to be the most immersive and comprehensive 4-year career development experience in the nation. In collaboration with supervisor, Farmer School of Business (FSB), College of Arts and Science, the CCES divisional career advisors, and employer relations team, develop and execute career development strategy including employer development and relations, career advising, programs, and services to students in FSB and CAS, students exploring and preparing for jobs, internships and graduate studies, and other majors as needed based on institutional, divisional, and departmental priorities. Ensure communication and collaboration between the Center for Career Exploration and Success and the Farmer School of Business and College of Arts and Science faculty, staff, students and student groups based on specified caseload and Career Interest Cluster(s Build effective partnerships and inspire different groups to work towards common goals. Develop advising structures, mentoring opportunities, and programmatic ways to support students’ career goals and for students in assigned Career Interest Cluster(s). Support departmental efforts to work with career community stakeholders to develop academic and co-curricular pathways for student access into various careers. In tandem with CCES Employer Relations Team, extend relationships with current employers and other external stakeholders (e.g. alumni and parents) who can support the success of students and cultivate relationships with prospective external stakeholders. In solidarity to Miami University and CCES goals, support Inclusive Excellence by providing programming and outreach to high priority student populations as assigned and in collaboration with Career Center staff focused on this initiative. Teach first-year and/or career development courses as needed (Masters required). Assist in the coordination of office-wide special events, programs, workshops, and career fairs, and other events as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree and one year experience.
Demonstrated teamwork and business acumen and experience in employer relations, with proven knowledge of career paths and recruiting practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Advanced project management skills.
Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in working with diverse stakeholders and constituents.
Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years or less experience will be eligible for the position title of Career Advisor.
Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and more than 3 years of experience or a Master's degree with at least one year of experience will be eligible for position title of Assistant Director.
Experience as an undergraduate or graduate student may be included.
